Ploughman's Lunches are served from the Ruddle Centre from 12.00pm prior to the Fair officially opening at 1.00pm, but be quick as they are very popular and are soon a sell out (If you wish to pre-order, please just let us know your requirements)

Arts and Crafts

The fair is always very well supported by a variety of art and craft stalls, from painters to jewellery. It's the perfect chance to pick up something unique and special.

Plants

A wide range of plants, shrubs and herbs to meet an equally wide range of "Green finger's" requirements. All at prices you simply cannot afford to miss.

Books

You can't beat a good book (or 3D Kindle as a friend likes to call them), and our book stall never fails to require more tables to accommodate the large selection. All books are available at a fraction of their original prices so don't miss out on picking up a bargain.

Coconut Shy

People have enjoyed this for hundreds of years, and they cannot all be wrong. A traditional game, which allows people to take out their aggression on inanimate coconuts! Always popular and those who successfully knock off a coconut win a fresh one to take home.

Tombola

Various prizes to be won throughout the day, ensures you won't be going home empty handed.

Flower and Bottle-bola

Live Entertainment

Dancing Display by Gillian Banks School of Dance, performed in the main arena.

Brass Band comprising of the Maltby Miners Welfare Band.

Something for the kids

Scarecrow Competition

One of the new items introduced this year is a Scarecrow competition. It will be £2.00 to enter with a fantastic prize of £20.00 for the winner. There is no guarantee that the scarecrows will keep the pigeons from eating your cabbages, but it will make your vegetable garden complete or point people in the direction to the fair.

To promote the Fair we are suggesting that you position your Scarecrows in a safe outdoor place that is in the villages of Braithwell and Micklebring, in the days running up to the Fair.

On the day of the Fair (Sat 9th June) we will have a designated flagged area, where you will be able to put your Scarecrow in position from 12.30 onwards and at an advertised time in the afternoon the Scarecrows will be judged and the lucky winner will receive £20.00.

If you don't live in the villages, I am sure if you ask, someone will be more than happy to have your Scarecrow in their garden for a couple of days before the Fair.

More for the kids

Face Painting is an old favourite as children can chose from a variety of characters or animals they'd like to be.

Children's Games

Toy Stall

Fire Engine Display
Kindly supported by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, a fire engine (or appliance as they're referred) is not only something fun and exciting to look round but also a good education and insight for both children and adults into what an amazing job they do and service they provide. Due to the crew being on active stand-by this is not a guaranteed attraction, but the service endeavour to be in attendance.

Aircraft Cockpit
Either helicopter or fixed wing, we are very grateful to be supported by Aeroventure, Doncaster's Air Museum, with the loan of an aircraft cockpit. For a small donation you may experience sitting in and taking the controls of a real aircraft.

Classic Cars

Young or old, car enthusiast or not, classic cars always seem to have the magic to evoke a memory from yester year. We are proud to have a very loyal number who always attend (even if the weather looks a little dodgy) Tyres blacked, paintwork polished and chrome gleaming, all the hard work and preparation is greatly appreciated and a trophy given to the best in show. Anyone wishing to book in and bring a classic car please get in touch for more details.

Military Vehicles

A selection of various military vehicles, from World War Two Willys Jeeps to larger army trucks. This is one of the most recent additions to the fair, which created great interest. We are keen to increase this feature and would greatly appreciate any military vehicle owners, who would like to show their vehicle to please contact us

Sheep Sheering

Various demonstrations of this skilful task, which is made to look very easy. Great to watch for all ages, but particularly popular with children.

Sheep Racing

Now we don't think we can claim this is something exclusive to Braithwell, but you'll if you've never had the pleasure of witnessing this new country concept then you're in for a real treat. Carefully selected for their ability to run fast and be easily tempted by a bucket of feed, the sheep run in their own lanes against each other. This is fast becoming one of the highlights on the fairs events program.
